The Consul General Luncheon (abbr. as CG Luncheon) was successfully concluded at the Waldorf Astoria Club on August 16, 2023. The event bore witness to the heartfelt farewell bid to the Consular General of Malta in Shanghai, Mr. Bernard Hamilton, who has been an active and invaluable member of the Diplomatic Corps. He played an instrumental role in providing unwavering supporting to the Dean and the Diplomatic Corps during numerous charitable endeavors, including the annual CG Tennis Tournament and CG Golf Tournament. Through his tireless efforts, the charitable events managed to raise substantial funds that have enable countless children from underprivileged backgrounds to undergo life-saving heart surgeries.

The CG Luncheon, initiated and organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Fiji in Shanghai with the support of Waldorf Astoria Club, was graced by consular officialsfrom almost 40 countries. Their presence not only conveyed warm regards to Mr. Bernard Hamilton but also demonstrated their commitment to fostering community development and embracing greater social responsibilities as members of the Diplomatic Corps. 

Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund is located at No. 2 of the Bund, formerly the Shanghai General Association. It is a luxury hotel with legendary colors, enduring architecture and deep history. The hotel consists of the club building built in 1910 and the newly completed Waldorf Astoria building adjacent to it.

The luncheon serves as an important platform for communication and exchange among consular officials in Shanghai. In order to further facilitate exchanges among consular officials from diverse nations and fully harness the allure of the Diplomatic Corps in Shanghai, thereby making greater contributions to societal progress and shouldering additional social responsibilities. At the luncheon, an announcement was made that there will be an inaugural Consul General Concert Gala on December 8, 2023. Anticipate this extraordinary event with great anticipation!
