The CG office in Shanghai Coordinates Efforts in Fighting Against Covid-19 in Fiji

With the second wave of COVID-19 continuing to wreak havoc in Fiji, imposing great challenges to the Fijian society, the Consulate General of the Republic of Fiji in Shanghai has initiated a fund raising drive through close engagement with the local business communities.


The donated fund and goods in kind, mainly coming from Hong Kong - Fiji Chamber of Commerce, Macau -Fiji Chamber of Commerce as well as mainland business enterprises, particularly the Four Nobles Classical Furniture Co. Ltd and Noni Tea (Fiji) Pte. Ltd, were timely in assisting the people affected by the pandemic in Fiji.


The donated fund was mainly used for the purchase of food packs for needy people who are in quarantine at home. The fund was also spent on the procurement of lap top computers for officials working from home to ensure the continuous provision of governmental services during this challenging time. The donation also included the much need Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as face masks for medical personnel and other frontline workers.


At present, almost 90% of the eligible target population has received the first vaccine dose while over 30% of the target population has received the second vaccine dose. Fijian government is conducting a series of measures to control widespread of the epidemic.It is also working hard to have the whole target population protected through vaccination by end of October 2021.
