Fiji has sealed an emotional second consecutive Olympic gold medal over World Cup champions New Zealand at the Tokyo Stadium.

With limited resources, less preparation time and not seeing family for months because of the COVID, the national side has made the country proud once again by defeating New Zealand 27-12 in the final.

The victory marked Fiji’s second and consecutive Olympic championship for rugby sevens, which was introduced for the first time at the 2016 Rio Olympics
