CG travels to Wenzhou as the head of the International Business Delegation

At the invitation of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT Zhejiang), the Consul General of the Republic of Fiji, Dr.Yolinda Yok Yee Chan took her first official trip to Wenzhou in a 3-day program arranged and facilitated by the Wenzhou Municipal Government and the CCPIT Wenzhou. The trip provided a rare opportunity for all the participants to learn from the business model of Wenzhou, the city known as the birthplace for China's private economy.

During the trip, Dr. Chan was the Head of Delegation, leading diplomatic and trade representatives from 19 Consulate Generals based in Shanghai. The visiting delegates inspected Wenzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, visited the Wenzhou Global Commodity Trading Hub, a global merchandise center and attended 3 investment and trade promotion conferences aimed to shed more light on the first-class business environment, which is key to Wenzhou’s robust private economy.  Delivering the speech on behalf of the Delegation, Dr. Chan referred to the whole event as a demonstration of the thriving spirit of Wenzhou, and added that the success of the“city of vitality” can be attributed to the visionary government policies and an enabling business environment.

In the margins of the event, CG took an interview from the local media and met with Mr. Yao Gaoyuan, the Mayor of Wenzhou. During the discussion, both sides highlighted the importance of establishing closer ties through cooperation in manufacturing, foreign investment, tourism, sports and education.


As part of the program, Dr. Chan had an official dialogue with Mr. Yao Gaoyuan, the Mayor of Wenzhou. Dr. Chan also took the opportunity to promote Fijian Made goods, tourism and investment opportunities in Fiji. This official trip in Wenzhou was widely covered by the local media and was reported on TV, print newspapers and online platforms.
