Fiji has confirmed first case of COVID-19

On March 19, in the national address made by the Hon. Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Fiji has confirmed its first case of COVID-19. The confirmed case has overseas travel experience in the last 14 days.

Currently, Fiji has immediately put into action measures to identify all those with whom the patient has been in close contact and takes steps to stop the potential spreading of the virus. As it is confirmed by the Ministry of Health and Medical Service, there remains zero confirmed cases of local transmission in Fiji. The Hon. Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama calls on fellow Fijians to practice ‘social distancing’ and exercise sound personal hygiene manners.
