Celebration of Fiji Airways 10th Anniversary of Entering the Chinese Market via Hong Kong

At the invitation of Fiji Airways and Tourism Fiji, Dr. Yok Yee Chan travelled to Chengdu, Sichuan Province to attend the Gala Dinner in celebration of Fiji Airways 10th Anniversary of entering the Chinese market held on 23rd November. Over 100 guests attended the event, including H. E. Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji to the People’s Republic of China, Mr. ManasaTagicakibau, CEO of Tourism Fiji, Mr. Matthew Stoeckel, General Manager of Global Marketing of Fiji Airways, Ms. Christina Templin, Country Manager China of Fiji Airways, Ms. Louise Huang and Regional Manager Greater China of Tourism Fiji, Mr. Vincent Zhen.

In her speech at the event, Dr. Chan said that as Fiji’s major source of foreign exchange and leading industry, tourism plays an important role in promoting economic development. Since Fiji Airways entered the Chinese market in 2009, it flew in tens of thousands of Chinese tourists every year to Fiji to explore the beauty of island nation, thus making great contributions to the progressive growth of the local tourism industry. She expressed her wish that with the cooperation of Fijian agencies in China, Fiji Airways would further tap the potentials of the Chinese market and strengthen bilateral relations between Fiji and China.

The gala dinner culminated with a cake-cutting ceremony.  Entertainment such as cultural dances and magic performances were provided throughout the dinner. The highlight of the evening was the prize draws of two exclusive holiday packages to 


Fiji.Currently, Fiji Airways has 5 weekly flights between Nadi and Hong Kong. Chinese nationals of the People’s Republic of China are exempted from obtaining visa prior to entering the Republic of Fiji.
