Fiji Participates at the CITIE Guangdong 2019

The China International Tourism Expo (CITIE) kicked off on Aug 30 as more than 20,000 buyers from 50 countries gathered in Guangzhou this week for the annual tourism event aimed to link worldwide destinations with the country’s top tourism market and outbound tourism hub.The total number of visitors during the time from Aug 30 to Sep 1 is estimated to be around 500,000.

                                 

To further tap into its most rapidly growing tourism source market of China, Fiji participated at the CITIE this time with country booth at the South Pacific Pavilion managed by the Consulate General of the Republic of Fiji in Shanghai and the business booth by Tourism Fiji, the country’ national tourism office. The two booths had different focuses on trade visitors and the public visitors respectively and together the two offices also worked together on a destination promotion on Fiji.

The focus of promotion this time in Guangzhou where Fiji after many years of promotional efforts has become a well known holiday destination famous for its blue sky, white beaches and friendly people shifted to the MICE sector. As Fijian over the years has been upgrading its infrastructure and especially conference facilities, MICE visitors are expected to grow substantively in the coming years.
