Fiji CG at Quzhou International Economic&Trade Cooperation Event

On 28th June, Dr. Yok Yee Chan was invited to the 2019 Belt and Road (China, Quzhou) International Economic & Trade Cooperation Events which were successfully held at Quzhou International Economic & Trade Center, Quzhou, Zhejiang Province. The event under the theme of “An OpenChannel, A Smart Garden” was hosted by Quzhou Municipal People’s Government, Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province and Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation with the participation of over two hundred guests including ambassadors, consuls-general, diplomatic officials as well as representatives from world famous enterprises. Mr. Tang Fei Fang, Mayor of Quzhou city, Mr. LvXinhua, Chairman of the Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation, Mr. FangLiqun, Vice Director of the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province also attended the Events.

During the event, guests visited Quzhou International Economic & Trade Center where the Fiji Pavilion was located.  The image of Fiji with great natural beauty and culture, a favorable investment environment and a perfect tourist destination was rejuvenated through colorful typographic profiles and promotional video clips set in the Fiji Pavilion with local features. Fijian made products exhibited such as Fiji Water, Fiji Beer, Pure Fiji and Noni products on the shelves attracted the attention of visitors, providing a chance to sense the good-quality of Fijian products that enjoy a high reputation.

At the 2nd Quzhou International Investment Conference, Dr. Chan was one of the keynote speakers. She thanked the Municipal Government of Quzhou for offering an ideal platform to bring Fiji closer to the Chinese friends. As one of the first countries in the Pacific region to endorse China’s Belt and Road Initiative, Fiji has been working closely with Chinese authorities in fosters cooperation on many fronts, particularly in trade, culture, investment and tourism promotion. Through the Fijian exhibition room located within the Centre that display some of Fiji’s premium products, visitors would take a glimpse of Fijian culture, its economy and friendly people. Dr. Chan believes that there are promising possibilities for trade and cooperation between Fiji and China.
