The Hon. Minister Attended the Launching Ceremony of the MFCC

The Launching Ceremony of the Macau-Fiji Chamber of Commerce (MFCC) and the Inauguration Ceremony of the 1st Committee was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Macao, 23rd April 2019. The event was jointly celebrated by the local community and the official Fijian delegation led by the Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Local Government, Housing and Community Development, Hon. Premila Kumar. The event was also attended by senior officials from the Legislative Council of Macau and the Office of the Special Commissioner of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs in Macao.


The successful launch of the Macau-Fiji Chamber of Commerce facilitated by the Consulate General of the Republic of Fiji in Shanghai aimed to bring the business community together in Macau with the interest to undertake business in Fiji. The event began with introducing all the members from the Fijian delegation, including the Permanent Secretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Shaheen Ali and Consul General Dr. YolindaChan.
 

During the event, Dr. Patrick Kang, the Chairman of the Macau-Fiji Chamber of Commerce and the Hon. Minister Premila delivered speeches both emphasizing the important role of the MFCC as an ideal platform to strengthen the cooperation in the fields of trade, investment and tourism for both sides.

At the margin of the event, the delegation paid courtesy calls to Ms Wang Dong, the Deputy Special Commissioner of the Office of the Special Commissioner of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs in Macao and Ms Chan Hoi Fan, Secretary for Administration and Justice and Member of Executive Council for Macao SAR. During the meetings, it was agreed that there are various areas in which both sides can cooperate under the Belt and Road Initiative and with the development of China's Greater Bay Area.
