Fiji won its fifth consecutive championship in front of a sold-out crowd at the Hong Kong Stadium, beating France 21-7 in the Cup Final at the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens on 7th April.

The defending tournament champions opened the scoring in the fifth minute and led the first half with 14-0. France then managed to grasp the chance to fight back being awarded a penalty try. However, from 14-7, the 10th-ranked French could not press the advantage and found themselves back on the defensive.
